A 10-day tour of Zanzibar provides an immersive experience blending culture, history, and nature. You'll start by exploring Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its maze-like streets and historic buildings. Then, unwind on the pristine beaches of the northern and eastern coasts. Highlights of the trip often include visits to spice farms to learn about and taste Zanzibar’s renowned spices, and a dhow cruise for sunset views and snorkeling in clear waters. You'll have the chance to see the endemic red colobus monkeys in Jozani Forest, and may also take a day trip to Pemba Island or Kizimkazi, known for its dolphins. Throughout the journey, you'll savor local cuisine and cultural experiences, fully immersing yourself in Zanzibar's unique heritage and stunning landscapes.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Zanzibar

Up on arrival in Zanzibar will pick up from Zanzibar airport by a representative from Tanzania Safari Manager and transfer to your hotel for Overnight stay.


Day 2: Stone Town and Prison Island Tour

Stone Town: After breakfast, embark on a 3-hour guided City Tour of Stone Town. Your guide will lead you through the area's significant landmarks and viewpoints, unveiling the rich history of Zanzibar through its architecture and stories from the Sultanate era, as well as influences from Europeans and missionaries. You'll explore notable sites such as the Anglican Cathedral, the Slave Markets, the Sultan’s Palace, Tip Tip’s House, the Old Arabic Fort, Fordham Park, and the renowned Zanzibar Doors nestled in the charming streets. Additionally, you'll experience Henna Art and visit the local fruit and vegetable market. Prepare for an immersive walk through the captivating history of Zanzibar and its vibrant streets.


Prison Island: You'll have the chance to explore the tortoise sanctuary, where a sizable population of giant tortoises, brought from Seychelles in the late 19th century, resides. These impressive creatures typically weigh around 200 kg and many are believed to be over 150 years old. You can touch the tortoises and capture photos during your visit. Additionally, the island is home to a charming group of peacocks.


Day 3: Safari Blue Tour

You will depart from the hotel and head to Fumba, where you'll board a traditional dhow boat to explore the stunning sandbanks and rugged islands. Spend the day sailing through mangroves and snorkeling among some of Zanzibar's best coral reefs. The Safari Blue trip is a full-day adventure on a handcrafted mahogany sailing dhow, navigating the Menai Bay Conservation Area, home to both Indo-Pacific humpback and bottlenose dolphins. Enjoy a seafood BBQ lunch on an island at the sandbank. Depending on the tides, we might also visit a special spot where you can swim in a tidal lagoon surrounded by mangroves, offering a unique swimming experience and beautiful photo opportunities with warm waters and a rich history stored in the coral.


Day 4: Jozan Forest and Spice Farm Tour

Jozan Forest;Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park, spanning 50 km², is located on Zanzibar Island and is the sole national park on the island. It is home to the Zanzibar Red Colobus, a monkey species that is found only in Zanzibar. The forest within Jozani Park is rich in native wildlife and features diverse habitats such as swamp forests, evergreen thickets, and mangroves. The red colobus monkeys, native to Unguja, are known for their playful nature and are often seen interacting among the lush, exotic flora. Take some time to explore the forest and uncover its hidden wonders.


Spice Farm Plantation: We'll guide you through a fascinating farm tour, showcasing the diverse spices found in Zanzibar. It’s truly astonishing—did you know a Cinnamon Tree can produce three different scents? Or that green, red, and black pepper all come from the same plant? You'll also discover the story behind vanilla and why it's so pricey. After the tour, you'll have the chance to purchase hand-crafted spices, soaps, and creams made by the local community, and enjoy an engaging lesson on traditional weaving.


Day 5: Relaxing Day
