  • Max Guests: 100+
  • Soweto, Moshi - Tanzania, 25114

DESCRIPTION

A local guide will show you around Moshi during your journey of bike cycling, including nearby villages at the base of Kilimanjaro and the town itself. While each tour varies, you might visit a local school, explore a market, or chat with farmers, depending on what interesting opportunities arise.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arusha/Moshi - Lake Eyasi

Your day will begin by getting acquainted with your bike, setting it up for comfort, and familiarizing yourself with the controls. Don’t worry—your friendly guide will assist you with this process. Additionally, you’ll receive thorough advice and instruction on navigating Tanzanian roads, ensuring you feel confident and safe while riding.

Experience the vibrant daily life of Moshi as you cycle at a relaxed pace through the Majengo district, the center of Moshi's craft scene. Discover an impressive selection of local crafts and handmade items displayed along the roadside. Continuing on, you'll pass by small farms and family homes in the Msaranga area, observing the everyday scenes of schools, mosques, and churches along your route.

Your adventure will lead you through rice fields, a key part of Tanzania’s diet, where you can lend a hand to local workers. This experience will give you a true sense of the effort that goes into every sack of rice. Afterward, savor the fruits of your brief labor with a delicious lunch hosted by a welcoming local family. Relax on their shady verandah while enjoying pilau, a traditional Tanzanian rice dish.

After you’ve rested and refueled, continue your bike ride through the Rau Forest, a gem of protected tropical woodland brimming with birdsong and animal calls. Watch for the black-and-white faces of colobus monkeys curiously observing you as you pass by. You might find yourself pondering just how fluffy a monkey's tail can be.

As you emerge from the cool shade of the Rau Forest, your final destination is the historic railway station. It’s like stepping back a century to the German colonial era; if you close your eyes, you can almost feel the vibrant energy of the past. With some luck, you might enjoy a stunning view of Kilimanjaro while savoring a cold beer at the station bar—a delightful conclusion to your journey before heading back to town to rest your tired but contented legs.
